Minha primeira missão: comentar um disco de uma banda que representou muito em minha vida e que tive a oportunidade de assistir a shows brilhantes nos anos 90. Estou falando do Gamma Ray um ícone do metal que nos apresenta um álbum que mescla momentos fabulosos |(principalmente o trabalho das guitarras) e consistentes, aliando peso e velocidade com alguns deslizes que não comprometem o resultado final. A banda apresenta a seguinte formação, Kai Hansen - vocals, guitar , Dirk Schlächter - bass Henjo Richter - guitar e Dan Zimmermann – drums. Kai Hansen continua soberano criando momentos de genealidade. O CD abre com Rise que possui uma base dedilhada que soa como Iron Maiden mas que rapidante ganha personalidade e a sonoridade típica do Gamma Ray, o vocal esta mais arrastado, puxado, mas muito metal. Os tradicionais e clássicos refrões enriquecem a música. Na seqüência um susto, um toque chato que quase me fez desistir de comentar, mas felizmente a coisa se reverte rápido e o Gamma Ray mostra lampejos de que ainda pode nos brindar com muita diversidade sonora. Mother Angel tem uma sonoridade oitentista muito interessante, vale a pena aumentar o volume. No Need to Cry é a famosa balada descartável, apenas faz figuração no CD (apesar de não comprometer). Empathy não faz jus ao nome nada acrescenta. Som óbvio. Quando penso que a coisa vai engranar, afinal é a hora da faixa título, decepção... Onde esta o Gamma Ray? Alguns vão alegar: é pesada, tem refrão pegajoso, tem lirismo... Passa para a próxima. Uma dose de esperança. Parece que estou ouvindo o velho Gamma Ray, faixa excelente. Pode aumentar o volume e curtir. Time to Live mantém o clima em alto astral. A introdução de Shine Forever é muito legal. A música começa acelerada, a batera provocante. Tenho aquela gostosa sensação de headbanguear. Chasing Shadows termina em alto estilo. Os Fãs do Gamma Ray certamente não irão se decepcionar. Aumente o Volume e curta! ROADSTAR - Um Jovem Som das Antigas

O Roadstar foi uma banda britanica de Hard Rock formada em 2003 quando mudaram o nome antigo que era Hurricane Party.
Eles excursionaram ao lado de um grande número de Rock Stars como Alice Cooper, Deep Purple, Thunder (banda), Status Quo, Meat Loaf, Nickelback e The Darkness e também tomaram parte em importantes eventos de rock como o Download Festival (em 2004) e Monsters of Rock (em 2006).
Seu álbum de estréia completo "Grand Hotel", produzido por Kevin Shirley (Led Zeppelin e Aerosmith), foi lançado em 2006. Como parte da promoção para o álbum o Roadstar excursionou com seus colegas de hard rock The Answer em uma co-turnê com 23 shows de 4 outubro a 1 novembro de 2006. "Creepy" deixou a banda, por motivos pessoais, pouco antes do início desta turnê e Sid Glover foi convidado a entrar na vaga para a excursão.
O Roadstar ganhou o Best New Comers Award no "2006 Classic Rock Magazine Awards", batendo a muito comentada banda australiana Wolfmother.
Seu segundo álbum "Glass Mountain", foi lançado em 16 de abril de 2007. Em 24 de abril de 2007 a banda lançou uma declaração de que eles estavam se separando e engajando-se em novos projetos. Embora nenhuma razão fosse dada à banda afirmou não ter acesso à sua conta no MySpace. Boatos começaram a circular de que a separação foi devido a divergências entre a banda e a gravadora Magic Hat Records sobre publicidade e cobertura da imprensa para o novo álbum "Glass Mountain". Ambos "Grand Hotel" and "Glass Mountain" permaneceram à venda, apesar da separação.( Wikipedia - tradução livre do inglês)

A formação do grupo era: Richie Heavanz - Vocals (2003-2007); Jonny Rocker - Guitar (2003-2007);Chris Rivers - Drums (2003-2007); Robin "Kreepy" Hirschfeld - Guitar (2003-2006); Steve Pipe-Vocals (2003); Cherry- Vocals (2003 mas não cantou em nenhum show) e Rob Randell- Bass (2003-2007).

Como diria aquela célebre citação (hoje muito em moda): "... Aí fomos surpreendidos novamente...".
Quando ouvi pela primeira vez este conjunto, imediatamente pensei tratar-se de mais um daqueles obscuros conjuntos de um ou dois discos dos anos 70 que não vingaram, mas, qual não foi a minha surpresa ao saber que este pessoal é bem novo e resgatam uma tradição britânica de produzir excelentes bandas de hard rock.
Infelizmente este conjunto só durou cerca de quatro anos, mas foi um claro exemplo de que há muita gente nova e boa fazendo música de qualidade e com uma base bem fundamentada na essencia vital do rock que foram os anos 70. Pra ouvir sem medo de se decepcionar...
